In online marketing, a session is a “session on the Internet”. It begins when the browser is opened and ends when the Internet connection is interrupted or the Internet access software is shut down.
An individual, server-related identification number is generated for each session – the session ID or session ID.
This ID is stored locally by the user and can be transmitted using cookies or URI attributes. The data stored on the server from the last online session can only be accessed using the user’s session ID.
